Silesian University of Technology (SUT)

Silesian University of Technology (SUT) is the largest technical academy in Silesian (one of the largest in PL). It has the status of Research University as one of ten in PL in the program of Excellence Initiative. Research carried in 12 disciplines: computer science and telecommunication, inter alia. Over 17.000 students, 1.630 research staff, incl. 130 professors, 470 DSc’s and 870 PhD’s. SUT was involved in more than 60 FP/H2020/HE projects. In 2021 there were published 4333 research articles. Department of Graphics, Computer Vision and Digital Systems (DGCVDS): research in object detection and recognition (also with CNN), motion analysis, AR, VR, and Quantum Information Technology (in established Laboratory of Quantum Computing), focusing in Quantum optical circuits for computation and image and video processing on real quantum computers. SUT team has excellent resources to offer a suitable environment to seconded staff and to contribute significantly to the research/innovation activities proposed. These include: Laboratory of Quantum Computing (LQC), Laboratory of Augmented Reality (LAR), Virtual Flight Laboratory (VFL). Mentioned laboratories are in a possession of laser pump, optical & measurement apparatus, AR devices (HoloLens, HoloLens 2), data center with several computational servers, and access to IBM Q.
Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT)
Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) is Austria’s largest non-university research institution. With its seven Centers, AIT is a highly specialized R&D partner for industry the key infrastructure of the future. More than 1,260 employees are conducting R&D using tools, technologies and solutions that will keep Austria’s economy fit for the future, based on motto Tomorrow Today. Within AIT the Center of Digital Safety and Security (DSS) will be contributing to OptiQ. In the DSS Center about 40 members of staff are actively engaged in the topics of quantum communication and photonics technologies. The history in quantum communication and entanglement distribution of this group goes back more than 20 years. AIT team has excellent resources to offer a suitable environment to seconded staff and to contribute significantly to the research/innovation activities proposed. These include: Laboratory of Quantum Communication and Photonics (LQCP). In the laboratory AIT developed entangled photonic sources as well as entangled QKD systems since more than a decade. We developed entangled sources on the chip. The quantum optics group of AIT is coordinating the Quantum Flagship project UNIQORN and partner in the project CiViQ.

SBA Research

SBA Research was founded in 2006 as the first Austrian research center exclusively for information security by the TU Wien, the Graz University of Technology and the University of Vienna. In recent years, the Vienna University of Economics and Business, the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten joined as academic partners. Through scientific research of information security we develop practical and applicable solutions, while focusing on current issues like cyber security. SBA Research employs more than 100 people and is by now the largest research center in Austria which exclusively addresses information security. The center is part of the Austrian COMET excellence program (COMET – Competence Centers for Excellent Technologies). SBA Research has all necessary equipment for its information security research.
Boson Energy
Boson Energy was founded with the vision to produce local hydrogen directly from biomass and waste. The technology has been developed over the last 15 years in collaboration with KTH Stockholm. Boson Energy is a member of Hydrogen Production Roundtable under European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, since early 2021. They have actively contributed to development of policies around renewable Hydrogen. The first demonstration plant is in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is being built with the local municipality, SWG in the city of Göttingen. SWG is interested to start exploring tie-ups with possible players to take-off the CO2 to be produced from the operations. It is expected to be around 8500 tonnes for the first 3-5 years and then could rise with expansion of capacity. Boson Energy produces Hydrogen from urban waste, in a carbon negative way, through Gasification, using its HPAG Technology. Typical standard module processes 35ton/tpd to produce~3500 kgs/day of H2 or equivalent SynGas for DRI or other industrial processes. Boson Energy technologies are innovative, proprietary, scalable and fully compliant with EU’s RED II directive, European Green Deal and Fit for 55 package.
